LOTUS FLOOR DESKS was inspired to collect and gather useful resources that relate to hip pain and lack of mobility.
Not only that, but Lotus Floor Desks provide an easy, everyday solution that can help improve these issues without much thought or expense, and best of all, something that fits in with your life.
I’m Tina, 40 years old and I work from home full time. I’ve had a desk job consistently since I was 26 and have been seeing a chiropractor most of this time too.
My chiropractor once said to me “sitting is the new smoking” and that has stuck with me over the years but I didn’t know how to change….until I watched ‘Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zone’ on Netflix.
Of particular interest were the Japanese community who essentially spend their time sitting on the floor to eat and work. The hip flexors on the 90 year old guy who was interviewed were beyond impressive.
The presenter, Dan Buettner, pointed out that Japanese people are doing several squats per day as part of their normal routine by just transitioning from sitting to standing and visa-versa.
If you’re interested in learning more about Blue Zones you can view Dan’s book using the link.
This exposure to another culture put floor desks on my radar. Could a specifically designed low desk for sitting on the floor, be the answer to my hip pain? It almost seems backwards.
By chance, I then heard Julia Bradbury on a BBC Radio 2 interview with Zoe Ball, promoting her new book ‘Hack Yourself Healthy’ where she too, spoke of hip flexor health. Her book provides a scoring system so you can assess your own mobility range.
So if you, like me, need a bit more movement in your life but need it to happen in an easy, cheap, and convenient way, then please explore my website, and I hope you find what you are looking for.
Tina
